Peri stops Yrcanos from killing the Doctor enabling him to escape while Peri, Yrcanos and Dorf seek out the local rebels. The Doctor helps Crozier transfer Kiv's brain into the body of a more primitive Mentor. The rebels go in search of their weapons store but find it blocked by a rockslide. As the Doctor in the courtroom watches in horror Peri, Yrcanos and the rebels are gunned down by the Mentors human forces.

Hurrah for keeping the courtroom scenes to a minimum but there's just not a lot going on here. The bulk of the episode is the operation or Peri & co hiding in the tunnels. Crash Zoom close up on Colin #6 in 7 episodes!

Playing Sil's boss Kiv is Christopher Ryan, then best known for playing Mike The Cool Person in The Young Ones. He's returned to the new series of Doctor Who as two Sontarans: General Staal in The Sontaran Stratagem and The Poison Sky and Commander Stark in The Pandorica Opens. Patrick Ryecart, playing Crozier, is a familiar face to television viewers and you really do have to see his turn as Captain Hilary Duff in The High Life. Trevor Laird plays the Mentor's servant Frax returned to the new series of Doctor Who as well playing Clive, Matha Jones' Father, in Smith and Jones, The Sound of Drums and Last of the Time Lords. He's not the only non white actor in this story which is very unusual for Doctor Who. Several of the credited cast including Alibe Parsons (who featured in writer Philip Martin's Gangsters) as Matrona Kani, Gordon Warnecke as Tuza and next episodes Deep Roy as the Posicar Delegate have an non European ethnic as do a great many of the supporting artists here.
